Merz b. Schwanen Giveaway

We b Merzin' or we b Schwanenin?

If you’re not already familiar with the expert German shirt makers, let me introduce you. Merz b. Schwanen was once a loop-wheel shirt brand birthed in 1911 and dying in 2005, only to be revived by Gitta and Peter Plotnicki in 2011. With their sights set on preserving and restoring the loop-wheel manufacturing process, the couple saved the last remaining circular knitting machines in Germany and began recreating garments that had been lost to time. These circular knitting machines allow a t-shirt to be assembled without any side-seams, creating a comfortable, and literally seamless fit, unlike most tees you’ll find these days.

After making a name for themselves in the cut/sew basics world, they launched their Good Basics line in 2016. Partnering with manufacturers in Portugal, they expanded their product line to include pants, woven shirts, outerwear, knitwear, and more. During my last visit to New York, I enjoyed the pleasure of a long chat with Gitta and Peter where their commitment to their craft was laced in every word. As I said above, I’m so honoured to work with folks who put this much love and attention into creating quality product. And before I wrap up the about section - I’m sure many of you were introduced to this brand via The Bear, however I promise Carmy’s 215 tee shirt is just the tip of the iceberg.
